Do You Have Tooth Pain?

When “Sometimes” is a Red Flag

Do you have a tooth that hurts occasionally? You’re not alone. Many patients tell us that the tooth started out hurting sporadically, but eventually became uncomfortable all the time. If you’re experiencing random pain, you’re in luck. This means your treatment is likely at its least expensive and least difficult stage. Like most physical problems that go without care, dental problems get worse (and more costly) over time.

Can I Tell If I Have a Cavity?

You may find this surprising, but most people are unaware of cavities because they’re completely painless. The outer layer of the tooth, the enamel, has no nerves – so people are caught off-guard when diagnosed, because they haven’t had symptoms. It’s only when the cavity enters the underlying dentin that the tooth may begin to feel sensitive. The most common symptoms are an increased sensation to cold and/or sweet foods. Always remember that dental problems escalate; they will get worse with time. Having regular dental exams (and cleanings) will reduce your risk of expensive dental repairs. Call us today for your check-up, and catch cavities while they’re small and painless.
